The Angry God

Since the beginning of time, there has been an evil, but almighty creature whose only aim is to rule over destruction and pain. This dark deity nourishes itself by devouring desperate and terrified souls and creates hopeless sorrow in its entire surrounding environment. Some call it the Blood Pourer; however, it calls itself the Angry God. Even though this Angry God has been asleep during centuries, giving human kind an era of peace and freedom, a group of people tried to awake it from its eternal rest by the 1600’s.

It was during the Puritan’s age, when a humble and hard-working woman named Martha Carrier got lost in the dense and gloomy forest while she was looking for some firewood. Sunset came too fast and darkness took control of the mysterious place. Martha was scared; she heard silent whispers coming from the bushes, trees, and shadows around her, but there was nothing. Martha was terribly frantic; her little children were alone at home. Then, she thought “I would give my soul to get out of here.” Immediately after that, Martha was home. She never told anybody what happened that night.

Since the event in the woods, Martha changed. She was no longer the same sweet, easygoing woman that she used to be. From that day on, she barely talked to anybody in town, but to some new friends of her during their weekly meetings at Martha’s house to read... the Bible... Indeed, they all suddenly changed; those women started to wear black all day long, to sweep their decks at night, and to cook strange recipes in huge metal pots while there was moonlight in the sky.

It is said that while Martha went to the woods, she ran into the Angry God and made a deal with it. In exchange for her soul, Martha could return home. At that point, Martha knew how powerful the Angry God was, and she wanted to share all that power with her people. For that reason, she started to recruit villagers to help her bring the Angry God back from the eternal rest it was in since thousands of years ago. In a matter of weeks, Martha was able not only to bless her neighbors with good weather or healthy crops, but also to curse at them even with death, if she wanted to.

Even though some villagers said that Martha was not the same person because of the way she got along with them, nothing changed with her family and the way she treated them. Martha wanted the best for her beloved ones. In fact, she started teaching her daughters how to use the powers she got from the Angry God. Her daughters were good at it. They could imitate the same spells that her mother without much difficulty. Martha was very excited about it because in order to bring the Angry God back she would need more people with these powers to help her.

As time passed by, Martha was indicted for bewitching villagers that did not get along with her. Martha knew her death was close and asked her followers to bring the Angry God back without her while she was trialed. Fortunately for known civilization, this group of people could not summon the Angry God because they were not powerful enough without Martha. In 1692, their leader passed away due to the trial process, and her group of devotees, unable at that moment to awake the Angry God, was segregated across all the country. Until today...

Now Mommy tries to make me

go to bed.

Lovingly, she warns me:

“If you don’t go to rest, tomorrow, you’ll probably be dead.”

Hell Morning in Mother’s House

Darkness all around me, I can barely distinguish my hands from my face. However, I feel that a feeble sunlight coming through the window shutters is heating my room. That light bothers me; I need a really obscure place to rest. Yet, it is too quiet; the silence wanders among my room. I can even hear my thoughts. It is not good; I feel a little dizzy, a headache maybe. My bed is very comfy today; actually, I wouldn’t mind staying here forever, but I also feel hungry. I need my breakfast. This is strange. It is 2pm, and there is nobody home but me. I hate when they all leave the house and forget to tell me where they are going. Is it too much to ask for a simple note, so I know where they are? I don’t think so! Damn it! Mom did not prepare my breakfast. I’ll wait for her in my room while I take a little nap... This house is too old. What’s that? I hear strange noises in the basement, like rats, but I do not want to go to check because every time I go down there, there is nothing! Indeed, I have never seen rats; I just hear the scratching over, and over, and over again. It scares me, but I should not be scared. Oh, no, I feel I am sweating; I need to chill out. Anyway, Grandma Mary once told me that she is a real witch and that she won’t let anybody or anything to hurt me… Thinking about it works; I am more relaxed now.

According to her, since she was very young, she liked to summon spirits and magic creatures. She would ask demons for favors and graces, go to the local cemetery at midnight, drink blood, assist to satanic ceremonies, and threat people with cursing at them and their family forever. They would experience death, pain, suffering, crying, whimpering, sorrow, and bad luck with their crops if they somehow disturbed her. Also, it is said that she had goblins kill people just for fun. Even though Mary is kin and I like her, she is very strange. She was made the old way. I mean, she considers legends as forgotten history, myths as warnings of the Forest gods, and dreams as Prophecies that cannot be avoided. Besides that, Mom told me that Mary was a lonely girl who admired nature and its powers. Anyway, Mary grew up, moved to the city, and raised a family. She had a daughter, Mom, and two grandsons: Gabriel the little and sweet and me, Henry.

I wouldn’t say that Mary is a witch, she is just extravagant. As a matter of fact, the weirdest thing I have seen around her was the time she told us a dream she had about a dead man who offered her a pot full of money. Supposedly, he buried it in his kitchen while he was alive. Mary said that her “Dead Man”, as she called him, needed somebody to unearth the money in order for him to rest in peace. Also, the spirit gave her some tips to get to his house. She described it as a wooden two-story house with a small garden in the front yard, and a young but dead apple tree with a long branch holding three dried fruits. After that, she described the inside of the house as having red floor, and faded white walls. The description of that house startled me because it was very similar to an abandoned house I saw the day before in a neighboring town, at least in its outside.

Then, she began describing her Dead Man. While she was depicting him, my two-year old brother said aloud: “there he is! There he is! Look mommy!” He was pointing to one of the upper corners of the room, insistently, he repeated: “there he is!” So, Mom asked him: “Who is there, baby?” My brother answered: “It’s gone!” He stopped pointing and went back to play with his cars. A huge pause filled the room while a cold shiver shook my whole body. We didn’t know what had happened. Then, Mary suggested to leave the room in an almost silent whisper as the temperature got colder. After that, lights went off like crazy; they flickered in a way I had never seen before. Mom took Gabriel, and we quickly ran away to the living room. After we left the room, the lights and temperature went back to normal.

Indeed, I wanted to unearth that money since I needed some extra funds. Therefore, I told Mary that I was going to check out the abandoned house I saw. She insisted that going alone could be dangerous, so she decided to go with me. She took a backpack and filled it with some cookies, a couple of orange juice cans, and some candles. Then, she hinted that we were going to use a shovel, so she had me carry one. Why do I need a shovel? I thought. Mary said aloud: “Henry, we need it to dig in the kitchen, and stop questioning me. Come on!” I didn’t believe in ghosts, or needed a nanny to go out, but she really scares me when answers things I have not spoke. Once we were there, we tried to enter the house, but the door was locked. So, I kicked the padlock and broke it. We noticed that, in fact, the house was exactly as Mary had described it last time. Surprisingly, the floor of that house was red, as Mary said, and the walls were dirt stained white.

It was a dark house, too old for having electricity. I will always remember that moment; there I was with a creepy Grandma, in a creepy house with spider webs hanging all over it. Anyway, Mary swore to me that it was the fist time she was in that place. Nevertheless, she led me to the kitchen that fortunately had soil floor. Mary showed me the place where she thought the money was buried, and I started digging. It was not very hard for me to dig because the soil was humid enough. Mary lit many candles all around the kitchen for me to see and to keep the surrounding spirits away, she said. In less than an hour, I found a big and heavy old metal pot. Then, I put the shovel aside and started pulling the big pot out of the hole. I was so happy that I started calling Grandma Mary, who was exploring the house. She appeared quickly, looked at the pot, and screamed of happiness. She opened the pot in a hurry. It was filled with shiny gold coins.

What a crazy-happy day, we found it! We found it! We laughed a lot! Wait a minute… I hear noises again, but they are coming from the kitchen this time. I’d better go to check because it smells like food. Yummy! Breakfast! Even though it is only a glass of cold milk and choco-chips cookies, I’ll devour them all. Thanks Gabriel for feeding me, I know it was you, but where are you, bro? Maybe, I’ll check his room. There, you are! Howdy bro, where is Mom? “Doing the dishes in the kitchen,” quickly answered me… Weird, I was there and I didn’t see her. “You never see her since that day”, he muttered. What day, bro? Gabriel turned around, looked at me, and slowly waved his head from right to left and exhaled. “That day, remember, when you died!? Thirteen years ago, when you and Mary went to unearth the money of her Dead Man, an accident occurred with a candle, and you died burned in that house. Since that day, you can only see me and talk to me.”

Am I dead? Am I dead? I am not! You’ve got to be kidding me. “Henry, take it easy! You are dead, ok!? Look, after you opened the pot and discovered that it was full of gold coins, you heard a deep man’s voice saying: now you have your money, little witch; I can take my payback. You recoiled in fright, tripped on Grandma’s candles and fell, hitting your head on the shovel. You got a very bad headache and were too dizzy to walk, but still trying to stand. The house was burning down in seconds. Among the black smog, a huge plank coming from the ceiling knocked you out. You couldn’t move a single muscle. Mary screamed with desperation and horror, but there was nothing to do. You felt how pain penetrated each centimeter of your body. Your skin started turning black and dry; then, it fell to pieces to show your reddish flesh to the fire. During a moment, you felt nothing, but the smell began. Death smells like barbecue; your burnt flesh produced an awful, acrid odor like coppery, metallic musk; what a sweet perfume. Seconds were like years in that roasting hell of skin and tissues. After some minutes of suffering and sorrow, the firefighters arrived and saved Mary. She told them that you were still there, but they didn’t find you, just a small coal with your human remains bent in fetal position. That was it, not a big deal. You see, bro! You are dead! Now go and have some sleep.” Ok, I kind of believe you, but how do you know all this? “I know it because you have been telling me this creepy story every night since you died.” Then, Henry looks confused and disappears, leaving Gabriel alone.

Llegan los representantes de POLLO CAMPERO al Vaticano para entrevistarse
con el Papa y le dicen: ''Santo Padre, le ofrecemos diez mil millones de dólares si firma un contrato para cambiar el Padre Nuestro, para que en lugar de decir: "...danos hoy el pan nuestro de cada día...., diga... danos hoy el pollo nuestro de cada día..."
El Papa indignado les dice que eso no es posible, que no se puede hacer publicidad con las cosas del Señor.
Los de POLLO CAMPERO le ofrecen el doble veinte mil millones de
dólares, pero el Papa insiste que eso no es posible.
Los de POLLO CAMPERO siguen incrementando la oferta hasta llegar a
CIEN mil millones de dólares y agregan: "es una gran oportunidad Santo
Padre, imagínese las obras buenas que podrán hacer con ese dinero, y
lo único que tiene que hacer es cambiar el Padre Nuestro para que
diga: ...danos hoy el pollo nuestro de cada día...""
El Papa un poco turbado abandona la sala de la entrevista para dirigirse a
su despacho privado, en donde toma el teléfono rojo que le comunica al Cielo:
- 'Hola San Pedro, ¿me puedes pasar al Patrón?'

Antes de entrar a la u, me hubiera gustado saber:

1. Que no volvería a dormir temprano x todas las tareas que nos dejan.
2. Que puedo cambiar muchísimo y ni siquiera notarlo.
3. Que puedes querer a muchas personas de diferentes formas.
4. Que los niños de la u también avientan papelitos.
5. Que normalmente conoces ahí al amor de tu vida, al cual siempre recordarás.
6. Que si fuiste inteligente en la secundaria… ¿importa?, ¡¡es pasado!!
7. Que copiar puede ser sinónimo de comparar las respuestas con mi compañero de enfrente.
8. Que puedes estar en una fiesta la noche anterior del examen.
9. Que más de una vez estarás imprimiendo un trabajo minutos antes de entregarlo.
10. Que existen materias que requieren más tiempo que todas las clases juntas.
11. Que puedes saber todo y reprobar el examen.
12. Que puedes no saber nada y sacar una buena calificación.
13. Que la mayor parte de mi educación la obtendré fuera del salón de clases.

El hombre despertó aquella mañana con una tremenda cruda.

La noche anterior se había pegado una parranda fuera de casa....

Bebió como un loco, ni siquiera se acordaba como había regresado a su casa. Preso de un dolor de cabeza lacerante, dolidos todos los músculos del cuerpo, la garganta más reseca que lengua de loro; en la boca un sabor a cobre y vinagre. Tenía miedo aún de abrir los ojos pues lo esperaba, de seguro, la encabronada de su vieja. Abrió los ojos como pudo, y lo que vio lo dejó loco. Sobre la mesa de noche estaba una pequeña hielera, llena de cubitos de hielo, con un par de cervezas bien frías. Al lado, había un par de Alka-Seltzers y un vaso de agua. Recargado en el vaso estaba un sobrecito perfumado; el tipo anonadado abrió el sobre y en su interior halló un recado que decía:

'Amor mío, vida de mi vida: Perdona que no esté aquí para atenderte'... 'Salí un momento, pero regreso al rato para estar contigo. Te he dejado estas cosas sobre la mesita para que alivies el malestar que quizá sientas después de la borrachera de anoche'...

'Te he preparado un caldo como a ti te gusta, pollo y res, que te espera en el comedor. Le pedí a nuestro hijo que te lo sirva y que esté pendiente de ti, te dejo un beso con todo mi amor. Tu esposa que te adora'.

El hombre no daba crédito a sus ojos. Bebió con deleite las dos cervezas bien frías, se bañó, se vistió y bajo al comedor. Ahí en efecto lo esperaba su hijo, que lo saludó con cariño y le sirvió el caldo preparado por su madre. Se lo comió en silencio, y el asombrado Padre pensó.... '¿Qué esta sucediendo?' ¿Soñaba acaso? ¿Era aquello una vana ilusión de los sentidos? Entonces se atrevió a preguntar con timidez: '¿Qué pasó anoche, hijo?'

'Llegaste a las 3 de la mañana y venías en completo estado de ebriedad. Chocaste el carro en la puerta del garaje; le diste una patada al gato; te vomitaste en la sala y arruinaste la alfombra que mi mamá acababa de comprar, te measte en la maceta . Luego te caíste en la escalera y ahí quedaste privado, sin sentido. Tuvo que despertarme mi mamá para que la ayudara a llevarte a la cama'.

y '¿Entonces? -pregunta el señor- ¿por qué todo esto? ¿por qué las cervecitas y el amoroso recadito, y el tremendo caldo y todas estas finas atenciones?'.

Responde el muchacho: - 'Porque mamá te iba a desvestir en la cama y cuando empezó a bajarte los pantalones tú dijiste:

'¡¡¡QUIETA CABRONA!!! ¡¡¡QUE SOY CASADO!!!'.

Los ultimos 3 deseos de Alejandro Magno "El Grande"!!

Encontrándose al borde de la muerte, Alejandro convocó a sus generales y les comunicó sus tres últimos deseos:

1 - Que su ataúd fuese llevado en hombros y transportado por los mejores médicos de la época.

2 - Que los tesoros que había conquistado (plata, oro, piedras preciosas), fueran esparcidos por el camino hasta su tumba, y...

3 - Que sus manos quedaran balanceándose en el aire, fuera del ataúd, y a la vista de todos.

Uno de sus generales, asombrado por tan insólitos deseos, le preguntó a Alejandro cuáles eran sus razones.

Alejandro le explicó:

1 - Quiero que los más eminentes médicos carguen mi ataúd para así mostrar que ellos NO tienen, ante la muerte, el poder de curar.

2 - Quiero que el suelo sea cubierto por mis tesoros para que todos puedan ver que los bienes materiales aquí conquistados, aquí permanecen.

3 - Quiero que mis manos se balanceen al viento, para que las personas puedan ver que venimos con las manos vacías, y con las manos vacías partimos, cuando se nos termina el más valioso tesoro que es eltiempo.

Al morir nada material te llevas, aunque creo que las buenas acciones son una especie de cheques de viajero.

"EL TIEMPO" es el tesoro más valioso que tenemos porque ES limitado. Podemos producir más dinero, pero no más tiempo. Cuando le dedicamos tiempo a una persona, le estamos entregando una porción de nuestra vida que nunca podremos recuperar, nuestro tiempo es nuestra vida. EL MEJOR REGALOque le puedes dar a alguien es tu tiempo y SIEMPRE se le regala a la familia, a alguien especial o a un buen amigo.

Nuevamente se dispone a poner la carta, cuando siente la mirada de la Virgen María que lo observa fijamente. De nuevo rompe la carta y vuelve a escribir:

NO ME HE PORTADO BIEN este año, pero si me traes una bicicleta, prometo portarme bien el que viene.

Sin más, Pepito va con la carta de nuevo al arbolito y otra vez la mirada de la Virgen María sobre él, penetrante. Rompe otra vez el sobre y desesperado agarra la figura de la Virgen María, la pone súbitamente en una bolsa y la mete en el closet y lo cierra con llave. Vuelve apresurado a escribir:

JESÚS: ¡¡¡TENGO SECUESTRADA A TU MADRE!!!

Si quieres volver a verla, deja una bicicleta debajo del árbol. No hagas la denuncia.

Mommy tells me that I am five years old, and I believe her. My name is Jimmy, but I would have liked to be named Michael Jackson because I have seen him several times on television. I like him because he used to sing and dance very well. Anyway, since I can remember, I have always been a very handsome, smart, funny, and mischievous kid. Daddy says that I am polite and humble as well, even though I do not know what those two words mean. I like to have fun because laughing is great and I enjoy it a lot. For me, the most important thing in life is to make my parents feel proud of me and help them with the house chores. That is why I usually assist Mommy in the house; she cooks and cleans while I eat chocolate cookies and drink cold milk. Because Daddy says that practicing soccer is very important to be a healthy person, I help him eat snacks and drink soda while watching soccer games. I also love to watch Sesame Street. I learn a lot watching this program; for example, Big Bird taught me to always tell the truth.

Some months ago my parents decided to build a new garage at home. Thus, Daddy hired some people to do the job. Last week, the workers finished the building, yet they left a mess behind. Spread all over the garage, there were bunches of rocks, cement bags, and some of Daddy’s tools. It was terrible because I had no space to play and ride my bicycle. Daddy was kind of upset because they did not finish the work properly. He said that some walls still needed to be plastered. So, Daddy decided to plaster those walls and to clean the mess up by himself in order to make some space in the garage. He added that it was going to be an easy task because it was almost done, and that it just needed some nice finishing details. For that reason, I decided that I was going to “help him” combine that funny little mixture of rocks, cement, and concrete to finish those little details of the structure. Actually, I “supervised” his work with the shovel. I did it because I needed to be sure that the work was going to be done well this time.

While supervising him, I was walking around Daddy. First, Daddy put all the little rocks together with a shovel. Suddenly, one little rock flew near me, so I tried to kick it towards the other ones. Daddy was very focused on his work, so when the little rock flew away, he tried to pick it up with the shovel at the same time as I kicked it. The shovel hit my foot; in other words, he cut one of my toes on my left foot with the shovel. I was bleeding. Of course, I did not cry at all when the accident occurred because I have always been a very brave kid. Anyway, Daddy told Mommy that he was going to take me to the hospital and that he was going to tell a completely different story to the nurses about what had happened to me. He did not want to explain everything; he wanted to make it simple. Mommy said that it was not a very good idea. She told Daddy that he had to say the truth. It would be easier to explain, she warned him. Daddy said that it was not their business and that they should not care about it. Immediately after, he took me to the hospital.

When we arrived, a doctor asked Daddy what had happened to me. Then, Daddy said that I was playing soccer in the dining room when accidentally I closed the door against my foot. That was all, he added. I said aloud, “Daddy, don’t be such a liar; you hit me with the shovel. Don’t you remember?” Everybody was very startled about my answer. Then, some nurses and an ugly surgeon asked me if my dad had hit me. I said “no!! Well, just with the shovel.” My father was so ashamed that he was blushing like a traffic light. That was funny to me. After that, my father explained everything, but the nurses did not buy his explanations at all, and they asked for my father’s personal identification, address and phone numbers. They almost called the police.

Since that day, I have a kind of square nail in one of my toes as a memory of that funny day; well, at least it was funny for me because Daddy got very upset with me. He scolded me; he said that I did not have to say anything when he was talking to the nurses. He also told me that I almost got him in trouble. I was about to cry. So, I told him that I only wanted to say the truth, as I had learned it from Big Bird. Then, Mommy told Daddy that I was just five years old. Daddy tried to calm down and he put a ban on watching Sesame Street at home. I still do not understand why, but I am not too worried about it because I watch Dora the Explorer now. This program also teaches me some other important things, though Daddy does not know it…
